Smartphones are the Swiss Army Knives of the tech world.

They're cell phones, music and video players, portable games consoles, mobile Web browsers, and personal organizers; the list goes on and on. Not surprisingly, all this can take a toll on battery life (especially on handsets with hefty, bright screens) and when you depend on your handset for so much, the last thing you want is for it to run out of juice when you need it most.

With moderate use, smartphones usually can last a full day before needing to be recharged, but not all gadgets are created equal -- some simply run out of steam early, while others can hang in there for the long haul. Below, you'll find six impressive devices that scored high in our CNET Labs battery tests for continuous video or talk time. Give one of these devices a try if you're looking for a handset that packs some serious juice.

Huawei Ascend Mate 2 4G (unlocked), June 2014
The Ascend Mate 2 4G is a mouthful of a name, but at least its battery can last all day. Literally. For our video-playback test, this handset took 25 hours and 54 minutes to fully drain, making it our top contender for an everlasting phone.

Samsung Galaxy S5 (multiple carriers), April 2014
Samsung didn't hold anything back when it created its flagship GS5. Packing a blazingly fast quad-core processor, a gorgeous 1080p screen, and a water resistant body, the phone also features a top-notch battery. In our test for video playback, it lasted a solid 15 hours and 18 minutes.

LG G Pro 2 (unlocked), March 2014
As LG's answer to the "phablet" niche of handsets, the G Pro 2 has an expansive 5.9-inch display. That's a double-edged sword: to power that big screen, it needs more; but that extra size means LG can fit in a bigger battery. Enter its removable 3,200mAh cell, which was able to push through 14 hours and 1 minute of video playback.

Nokia Lumia 1320 (unlocked), January 2014
For Windows Phone enthusiasts, the Lumia 1320 will stand out in a number of ways. First, it has a shockingly orange paint job, its 6-inch screen is massive, and most notably, its battery is ample. It soldiered on for a whopping 43 hours and 10 minutes for our talk time test. Now that's some serious juice.
